The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has intervened in one of CRH’s acquisition deals, claiming it would substantially lessen competition in the state of Tennessee. CRH via subsidiary APAC-Tennessee is in the midst of a €115 million deal to buy Standard Construction Group in the state, however the DOJ and Tennessee’s attorney general filed a suit against CRH on Friday opposing the deal. Standard operates several hot-mix asphalt plants, which provides asphalt composite used on roads, carparks and airport runways.
