Horse Sport Ireland (HSI), the national governing body for showjumping and equestrian sports, has applied for an interim examiner to be appointed over its Irish operations. In a highly unusual move for a sports governing body, it has sought bankruptcy protection from its creditors. HSI is a company limited by guarantee, meaning it has no individual shareholders. Karen Brosnan, a director of HSI, filed an affidavit on Monday requesting that accountant Joe Walsh be appointed as interim examiner.
