Bloodstock tycoon John Magnier only dropped his appeal over the purchase of the 750-acre Barne Estate in Tipperary in February. He did so, a spokesperson said, on “pragmatic grounds”. Finally, Maurice Regan, the New York-based CEO of building contractor JT Magen, could buy the Barne Estate for €22.5 million. Infamously, that was €7.5 million more than Magnier had first offered.
