The working relationship between reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes and his right-hand man Bob Maheu ended in 1970 after 13 years of service. Bob’s obituary in the Las Vegas Sun in 2008 recorded that “in 13 years serving with Hughes, where he held the billionaire’s power of attorney and spoke on Hughes’ behalf for all public purposes, Maheu saw Hughes two times”.
