The more I study Covid-19’s impacts, the more I am convinced Covid-19 changes nothing at a structural level. What Covid-19 does is reveal. Covid-19 reveals the structural differences between workers whose jobs involve moving electrons around, and whose jobs involve moving things around in the real world. Google’s engineers are not worried but civil engineers and hospitality workers are scared for their livelihoods. The deep structure of our economy is revealed.
