The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has received 38 notifications of mergers this year, down from 47 in 2019. 2020 offers a rare occasion to compare like with like. The turnover threshold for notifiable mergers increased from €3 million to €10 million at the start of last year, restricting the number of cases subject to competition scrutiny.
