Last May, the High Court cleared the scheme of arrangement entered by AbbVie to acquire Irish-headquartered Allergan. This week, solicitors from Dublin law firm Matheson were back in the Four Courts – this time in relation to a judicial review of the taxation of the US pharmaceutical multinational in Ireland. The group’s Chicago-headquartered parent, AbbVie Inc, was listed in proceedings with the Revenue Commissioners on Wednesday. The legal action follows a year-long battle with the tax authority over the acquisition of Allergan, which AbbVie agreed in June 2019.
