Before going bankrupt in the UK in 2012, HKR architect Jerry Ryan agreed a scheme to transfer ownership of a Middle Eastern architectural company worth around €7 million to his businessman friend Barry English for €77,000.  According to a High Court ruling in May 2019 the share deal was a caretaker arrangement, a sham by Ryan “to salt away very substantial assets for his own benefit” out of the clutches of his creditors.  When the architect was discharged from bankruptcy English, the millionaire founder of Winthrop Engineering, was supposed to deliver the company, HKRME, back to Ryan.
