CVC Capital is the world’s third-biggest private equity firm. In March of this year, it agreed to a deal to buy one-seventh of the Six Nations rugby tournament for €428 million. CVC has been sniffing around the rugby world for some time. In December 2018, it bought 27 per cent of Premiership Rugby, England’s club tournament, for €220 million.
