The DUP leader, Jeffrey Donaldson, remains hopeful that the British government will strike a deal with the European Union to end the row over the Northern Ireland protocol.   He kept open the possibility of an agreement, rather than a bust-up, during a virtual session of the Patrick MacGill School yesterday.   The other contributors to the hour-long discussion were Claire Hanna MP, the SDLP’s representative for South Belfast and Julian Smith MP, the former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
