In December, 2018, a company backed by beef baron billionaire Larry Goodman obtained planning permission to demolish and redevelop the Setanta Centre, a quintessential 1970s Dublin office complex fronted by the Kilkenny design shop and Reads print store. The planning permission, which excludes the Kilkenny shop, survived an appeal to An Bord Pleanala in 2019 and substantial demolition works have been carried out since then at considerable expense.
