The cliché players like to come out with is that they don’t pay attention to the media. Sometimes it’s true, but often it isn’t. As a player, I was actually quite good at it ignoring the media, or I got better at it throughout my career, which I’ll come back to. But when I started with the GPA, I had to pay more attention and I became quite sensitive to the amount of coverage Dublin got in the media. Then when I stopped playing, I used to look at it and think, ‘Jesus do they ever talk about anything else?’…
