Three days before Twitter’s board approved Elon Musk’s offer, negotiators for the European Parliament and the Council of EU member states had agreed what will most likely be the final shape of the Digital Services Act. Once formally adopted and transposed in 27 national legislations (allow a few more years), the new law aims at enforcing that “what is illegal offline must also be illegal online”. Its provisions are far-reaching.
