A High Court judge has said he takes “very seriously” the mischaracterisation of a Revenue debt in a failed restructuring plan submitted to court on behalf of the bust restaurateur Jay Bourke. Bourke, who was bankrupted by the tax authority last month over a capital gains liability arising from the sale of the Bodega bar in Cork, proposed a personal insolvency arrangement (PIA) last November that would have seen his creditors accept a deal writing down the bulk of his €13.7 million debts.
