When a company changes its name, it’s usually not a great sign. At the publication of its 2021 annual report today, Providence Resources announced its intention to change its name to Barryroe Offshore Energy. The new name will be put to a vote at the AGM. Barryroe Offshore Energy will be this entity’s fourth name. It was originally founded by Sir Tony O’Reilly in 1981 as Atlantic Resources. Ten years later it was acquired and renamed Arcon International Resources. Six years later, Providence was spun out of Arcon.  Some companies that change their name a lot are a bit dodgy…
