Last Friday, the High Court received notice of a new tax case pitting Covidien Ltd against the Revenue Commissioners. Although the company was the plaintiff initiating legal proceedings, the dispute in facts results from the tax authority’s intention to challenge a decision issued by the Tax Appeals Commission one month earlier, which is the deadline to escalate the matter to court.
