In November 2020, the national electricity grid operator, EirGrid, decided to cut the performance bonus it pays to its employees by half for that year. The move did not go down well with the Unite trade union, which represented 470 of EirGrid’s 545 employees at the end of 2020. The union and management disagreed on the bonus cut and the dispute ended up before the Workplace Relations Commission and then the Labour Court earlier this year.
