On the Ring of Kerry, in the idyllic coastal village of Waterville, there is a hotel. Oil tablecloths, magnolia walls and gilt-framed maritime paintings make up the decor. The bedrooms are bare except for a few pieces of outmoded furniture, but the windows, facing out across beautiful Ballinskelligs Bay, have shown the same view for more than a century.
