Rena Maycock writes a column for The Currency from the coalface of Irish business, drawn from her experiences as both a corporate executive and entrepreneur.
Rena is the founder / CEO of Cilter Technologies Limited, a technology startup developing child protection software for smartphones that detects/blocks cyberbullying, grooming and suicide/self-harm in user-generated content on messaging apps and browsers.
Rena started her career in sales at 98FM and went on to hold a variety of senior management and director roles in Sky Media, Sunshine and iRadio.
Rena has a proven track record in business management and entrepreneurship, having successfully launched radio stations i102-104 & i105-107 (GM and latterly as Group CEO). She went on to establish her own companies, face-to-face introductions agency Intro Matchmaking which remains Ireland’s largest nationwide dating agency, and subsequently online dating site Arealkeeper.ie.
Over 17 years in business she has built up a broad spectrum of experience across a number of sectors including retail, media and technology each with varying business models. Having come from a domestic, indigenous business background Rena is now navigating the global market and dealing with multinationals in her quest to make Cilter the machine-standard parental control on all smartphones.
Since inventing the Cilter software concept in 2016, Rena has successfully completed the US patent process, built an experienced management team and developed strategic partnerships with international stakeholders in child-protection. Rena lives in Dublin with her husband Feargal and two small children.
