A suburban rail station at Kishoge on the Kildare line out of Dublin Heuston has finally opened 15 years after construction. Costing €6.4 million in 2009, the frequent trains headed to Kildare and beyond never stopped at Kishogue, an area that has seen extensive residential development. A further €3.8 million has been spent to ready the unused station for the reopening. The Minister of State for Transport, James Lawless, made the following assessment: “Investment in public transport and capital infrastructure is never wasted: it is always a good spend”.
