As we enter the summer months in the Northern hemisphere, management teams in all airlines are laser-focused on one issue – operational performance. Between May and September, passenger demand for air travel peaks, air fares are at their seasonal high, and airline profitability balloons – assuming the fleet works efficiently. Hence, all focus is on on-time departures, minimal air-traffic- or weather-related delays, and full utilisation of aircraft that will be working up to 13 hours each day.
