Ten years ago, British voters – previously believed in Europe to be among the continent’s most pragmatic – chose to leave the European Union. The decision was genuinely historic. Britain withdrew from Europe’s de facto federation. In my view, it weakened both Britain and Europe. For Ireland, it created a ongoing strategic nightmare.
