During the 2010s, Dublin became more and more expensive to live in as a renter, relative to the rest of the country. At the peak, in 2018, a two-bedroom apartment in Dublin cost a little over three times what it did in Connacht-Ulster. In the latest Daft.ie Rental Report, covering the second quarter of 2026, that ratio is below two: €2,634 a month on average in Dublin compared to €1,374 a month in Connacht-Ulster.
