In order for a tax-friendly investment account to get widespread adoption, it had to be compelling. There had to be a significant enough incentive to get a country that has demonstrated an immense ability to save to change its ways and start to direct some of its cash away from traditional bank accounts and into stocks, bonds, and funds. In addition, they also had to strike a balance between attracting investors while also not amounting to a tax incentive that was deemed to be exclusively for the rich.
