On September 14, Northern Ireland’s Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon granted planning permission for the northern portion of the north-south interconnector, a 138-km high-voltage power line from Co Meath to Co Tyrone designed to triple the capacity for the Republic and the North’s grids to exchange electricity across the border.
