Last Thursday, Solidarity-People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett and Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe had an interesting exchange in the Dáil about the taxation of so-called Section 110 special-purpose vehicles (SPVs). I found it interesting because it was based on an article I had written about the Irish SPV established by US investment bank Goldman Sachs to acquire part of a €1.9 billion loan book from KBC in 2018.
