In a previous article about the emergence of Web 3.0, I discussed the coordinated nature of “smart mobs” and the swarming techniques employed to overwhelm and overthrow an ideology or establishment. Like an offline street protest, digital versions of collective and coordinated behaviour move power from institutions to “the people” in an attempt to decentralize top-down decision making.
