This piece looks at reducing or removing some of the separations and segregations we experience in our society. Covid separated us physically. Ireland’s policy response segregated citizens by age and by income. The young were cut off from each other and spent a year in their bedroom. Younger workers without the ability to telework were similarly cut off, while older workers in the same boat were essentially fined for working in hospitality and other badly affected sectors.
