During Wednesday’s Dáil debate on the temporary excise cut introduced by the Government to help with the spike in fuel costs, Sinn Féin’s finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty said of diesel prices: “In Wicklow, prices of €2.32 have been seen. That is a €1 increase since this time last year. The State, on the back of that increase, takes approximately 20 cent in additional Vat on every litre.
