At the beginning of this year, I was told by administrators of an early-stage tech start-up fund which was made up, in the main, by a giant pot of money from Enterprise Ireland, that our start-up developing child-protection software for smartphones was not eligible for funding because they were ‘only investing in revenue-generating’ companies.
